It's the 2010 edition but an early 70s movie, the classic and anarchic British comedy "The Ruling Class".

In this fairly insane movie, Peter O'Toole portrays Jack, who is a cigar smoker.

Worthy of mention are two things: Jack, smoking what looks like a Lonsdale or long corona shape, inhales his cigars. Further, in one scene, he opens a cigar box, pulls out an uncelloed smoke and fires it right up. Open end, no cutting. And it didn't look like film had been "cut" or edited either.

That was worthy of notice because Jack is ruling class. What is called fabulously wealthy. I couldn't make out brand, but it looked like an ordinary box of premium cigars.

Who'da thunk the aristocracy smoked White Owls?

Alright, my digital converter is on the crap, so I have been watching hour long shows on DVDs from my local library. hey, I like to be entertained and I have a short attenti...hey, what was that?

At any rate, I've recently seen some of the series "Medium" (They come four shows to a disc - that's an important criteria)

At another rate, there is a character, the ghost of the medium'd father-in-law, and I can say that this guy knows how to handle a stogie. Usually a half-burned job and the actor seems very comfrtable with it.

More old shows for 2010.

Happened to watch an episode of the series "Monk"

A fireman was testing smoke detectors by blowing smoke from his cigar at them.

How about "Superman Returns"?

Not only is Lex Luthor, supervillain, a cigar smoker - we hear him cut a cigar and see him light it, but he's a classy guy, too. We are shown his single cigar stainless steel tube and 'xikar-style' cutter. nice accessories.

Plus, a natural gas explosion that threatens to destroy Metropolis (this time) is started by a cabbie's dropped stogie.

Super villain and destruction of a city - not the best product placement we could hope for.

here's one actually from 2010. At this years "Armory Show" a major art fair in New York, there is a near life size bronze sculpture of a man smoking a cigar.

The artist is Marc Quinn. You can see it here: Armory Show at image number 6 in slide show.

Another less than sought after endorsement:

In the movie "The Matador" the lead character, a professional assassin, offers a friend a Montecristo by name.

The cigars I saw (and scented) were not in a movie or play or anything. I happened to see a fellow standing on a corner smoking a cigar and a day later I was behind a car when the driver was enjoying a stogie.

I mention these two occurences because as has been noted here before, generally, I hardly ever see anybody smoking a cigar. Seems like everybody smokes in their den.
